![]() I've heard of them before, but never had a barrel by them. I ran my options and it comes to about $300.00. They'll make one custom, and I could choose, material, profile, fluted or not, twist, gas system length, gas block diameter, and barrel length. I was looking at McGowan barrels website. I'm thinking the little 708 round is going to need some help in the form of extra barrel length to get them going fast enough to really perform up to potential. I'm currently interested in the slippery pills around the 160 grain range. The only thing is, we never shot bulles heavier than 140 grains. Anyway using the same handloads there wasn't much velocity difference at all. Once upon a time my brother and I both had 708 rifles, his was a model 7 with an 18" barrel, mine a 700 Varmint with either 22 or 24, can't quite remember. I'm aware that the 708 isn't too badly handicapped by the shorter length tubes. Just one thing has me undecided to some degree, they only offer them in 16 and 18 inch lengths. Probably when I have my money together, they'll have them in stock again. ![]() I'm looking at Wilson Combat's barrel in 708 Rem, although they're currently out of stock. ![]() I have the upper & lower, furniure and buffer system. ![]() ![]() Once my 6.8 is sorted out and running good, and my fun money account is replenished, I plan on finishing an AR 10 project I started. ![]()
